Key Issues

Klamath County Republicans are freedom-loving, hardworking, practical and self-reliant. We are farming, ranching, timber and small business. We value our families, our communities, our neighbors, our heritage and our Christian values. We believe Oregon needs new leadership. Because Oregon is worth saving!

Election Integrity and Voter Policies are foundational for change in Oregon. 

95% of Republicans nation-wide support The Save America Act and that number is probably higher in Klamath County. It's common sense to require voter ID and proof of citizenship. Add to that in-person voting, vote on a paper ballot in your precinct, on one day and hand count with no machines involved.  

Second Amendment Rights are under attack in Oregon. 

We support a strong defense of constitutional gun rights. It is a core issue, opposing restrictive state laws on firearms and emphasizing personal freedoms for self-defense in rural areas where hunting and protection are common and law enforcement may be a hour away. 

Tax Relief
The Oregon legislature's escalation of taxes and fees have set loose a firestorm of push back among Oregonians as the grassroots NoTax Referendum has shown. And they just keep adding more tax burden: taxes on non-motorized small watercraft (paddleboards!), the estate tax (20% on everything over $1M), gas and transportation taxes.  And when President Trump passed income tax relief our legislators canceled them for state income tax harming businesses and consumers. Oregon is now one of the highest taxed states in the nation.

Economic Growth

The timber industry in Klamath County once provided enough tax revenue to pay for our public works and law enforcement needs but government overreach destroyed that once thriving industry. We must reduce government regulation and spending at the state level to make Oregon more affordable and for businesses to thrive because when business thrives communities thrive. The goal is to foster job creation, support small businesses, keep more money in taxpayers' pockets while generating tax revenue for the county. 

Education and School Choice
Support for academic excellence, parental rights in education, and school choice options like charters or vouchers to counter perceived liberal biases or underperformance in public schools. This includes promoting policies that prioritize fundamentals over certain social agendas.

Public Safety and Law Enforcement
We support backing strong law enforcement, tougher penalties for crime, and addressing issues like homelessness and drug addiction through enforcement rather than lenient policies. In rural counties like Klamath, this ties into protecting communities and supporting sheriffs' offices amid funding shortfalls.

Water Rights and Agriculture

Republicans in Klamath County prioritize reliable access to water for irrigation and farming, opposing federal restrictions that have historically shut off water to basin farmers. They advocate for local control over water resources to support the agricultural economy and prevent environmental regulations from harming rural livelihoods.
